What we like: Ultralight, affordable, compact, wide cut, high-quality materials
What we don’t: Sewn footbox makes it slightly less versatile than other quilts, not warm enough for sub-freezing trips, thin fabric
The Magma Trail Quilt 30 has a tremendous warmth-to-weight proportion, packs down little, and is estimated reasonably for the quality. Not at all like the EE Revelation and Katabatic Flex which can open entirely like a cover, the Magma Trail Quilt has a completely sewn foot box. Even though this somewhat restricts adaptability, this plan will be far less drafty on crisp evenings. Even though this blanket has a 30°F rating, we see it more as a mid-year alternative and would possibly feel great taking it when evening temps are during the 40s or hotter.
